Floor Faller
Ride the rising platforms down, away from a ceiling of spikes. I wrote it in Java in 2011 and rebuilt it for the browser in 2026. Play it here.
I wrote Floor Faller in Java Swing in November and December 2011, while I was teaching myself to code in Tianjin. Platforms rise out of the lava towards a ceiling of spikes, and you walk left and right to ride them down, a floor at a time.
The green boards are safe, the blue ones slow you down and the red ones burn. In 2026 I rebuilt it for the browser, keeping the 2011 rules and adding ice, conveyors and crumbling stone the deeper you go. The rebuild draws everything in code, with no image files and no libraries.
Below is the 2011 original: a frame from the Java game, and its stickman walk cycle.
THE 2011 ORIGINAL
This is the actual December 2011 Java code, changed only in where it finds its pictures, running in your browser through CheerpJ, a Java virtual machine compiled to WebAssembly.
It needs a keyboard: ← → to walk, Shift to cling to a wall. Green boards are safe, blue ones slow you down and the orange ones burn.
