Gregory J. Gaynor

Hey, I’m Gregory. I’m a bilingual coder, martial artist, and lifelong productivity nerd who spent nearly two decades in China chasing bold adventures—and occasionally officiating weddings on TV. I’ve juggled everything from building custom GTD apps and homeschooling my son in Latin to training at the Shaolin Temple and learning Tibetan for fun. You could say my life is equal parts innovation, discipline, and curiosity, with a dash of wanderlust thrown in.

Christian Faith

My Christian faith is at the heart of how I live. It guides how I treat people, how I spend my time, and what I prioritize. I try to live intentionally, with grace and purpose—always learning, always growing.

Two Decades in China

Studied Chinese at Leeds University, and Trade & Economics in Chinese at Nankai University in Tianjin, China. Fluent in Mandarin and Tibetan

Entrepreneur & Writer

Founded FaceDragons.com for personal development, wrote a Chinese textbook for homeschoolers, and penned articles for online publications.

Lifting Weights

Strength training keeps me grounded. I love the structure of lifting—it’s simple, honest work. It balances the mental effort I put into coding and writing, and it gives me time to reset and recharge.

Juggler & Cardician

I also love juggling. Clubs, balls, rings—I can do five balls on a good day. It’s weirdly meditative and sharpens focus like nothing else. And then there’s magic. Yep, sleight of hand, card tricks—I love the wonder of it, and the discipline it takes to do it well. It’s like coding for people’s imaginations.

Productivity Aficionado

20+ years of GTD (Getting Things Done), with my own custom apps and a firm belief in constant self-improvement.

Martial Arts Enthusiast

I started Taekwondo at six, got a black belt early, then pivoted into kung fu, Tai Chi, and Chinese kickboxing. I’ve trained at the Shaolin Temple, studied Chen style Tai Chi with real lineage masters, and even picked up Muay Thai along the way. Martial arts have shaped how I think, how I move through the world, and even how I structure my day.

Digital Nomad and Photographer

Trekked to Everest Base Camp, documented Asia through street and travel photography, and cooked my way around the world’s cuisines.

Music & CDs

Music’s been with me just as long. I play guitar and collect CDs—yes, actual physical discs. There’s something deeply satisfying about flipping through albums and rediscovering old favorites. I even built an app to organize my collection.

The Game of Go

I love Go. It’s strategic, meditative, and endlessly humbling. No matter how good you get, there’s always more depth to explore. It’s like martial arts for the mind.

Coding & Tech

Self-taught developer, from Java to Python. 15+ years using Linux (Arch + DWM) usage, and a serious FOSS advocate.
